Jews are expecting the Messiah!

Dear friends:

The following was found on Jewish Web sites, as indicated. Remember that the Scriptures indicates that Israel will be deceived and accept a false messiah before they accept the real One. Also remember that the Jews draw upon non-scriptural writings, which are not the same as Scripture. Yet I am fascinated by how what they are saying correlates with what we know the Bible does say and current signs.

"In recent weeks four Sephardic Rabbis in Israel, including two former Chief Rabbis, have made statements that seem to come astonishingly close to declaring that the coming of Moshiach (Messiah) and the final redemption of the Jewish people is imminent!" (I can't find my source on this one.)

The one below talks about "the year sixty-six." Jewish Year 5766 begins at sunset October 3, 2005 (Rosh HaShanah). Does it mean the year 5766? Probably. Otherwise, it would be another 100 years, and in view of world conditions. I don't think so.
_______

From Zohar I, Va'era119a, a Kabala source, not Scripture, http://www.israel613.com/GEULA1.htm .

In the year sixty-six (5766: 2005-2006?) the Mashiach will appear in the land of Galilee. A star in the east will swallow seven stars in the north, and a flame of black fire will hang in the heaven for sixty days, and there shall be wars towards the north in which two kings shall perish. Then all the nations shall combine together against the daughter of Yaakov in order to drive her from the world. It is of that time that it is written:

“And it is a time of trouble unto Yaakov, but out of it he shall be saved” (Jer. 30, 7). At that time all the souls in Guph will have been used up, and will need to be recreated. As a mnemonic of this we may use the verse: “All the souls of the house of Yaakov that came into Egypt…all the souls were 66” (Gen. 46, 26). In the year seventy-three (seven years later, in 5773, or AD 2012) all the kings of the world will assemble in the great city of Rome, and the Holy One will shower on them fire and hail and meteoric stones until they are all destroyed, with the exception of those who will not yet have arrived there. These will commence anew to make other wars. From that time the Mashiach will begin to declare himself, and round him there will be gathered many nations and many hosts from the uttermost ends of the earth. And all the children of Israel will assemble in their various places until the completion of the century. The VAV will then join the He, and then “they shall bring all your brethren out of all the nations for an offering unto the Lord” (Is. 56, 20). The Sons of Ishmael will at the same time rouse all the peoples of the world to come up to war against Jerusalem, as it is written, “For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle, etc.” (Zech. 14, 2), also, “The kings of the earth stand up, and the rulers take counsel together, against Hashem, and against his Mashiach” (Ps. 2, 2); and further, “He that sits in heaven laughs, Hashem has them in derision” (Ibid. Ii, 4). Then the lesser VAV will rouse itself to unite (with the He) and renew the souls that had become old, so as to rejuvenate the world, as it is written, “May the glory of Hashem endure for ever, let Hashem rejoice in his works” (Ps. 115, 31). The first part of this verse signifies that Hashem’s glory will attach itself to the world, and the latter half that He will cause souls to descend into the world and make them into new beings, so as to join the world into one. Happy are those who will be left alive at the end of the sixth millennium to enter on the Shabbat. For that is the day set apart by the Holy One on which to effect the union of souls and to cull new souls to join those that are still on earth, as it is written, “And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remains in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written unto life in Jerusalem” (Is 15:3).’

Dear friends:

In my above message, I included a fascinating quote but had lost my source. The quote was: "In recent weeks four Sephardic Rabbis in Israel, including two former Chief Rabbis, have made statements that seem to come astonishingly close to declaring that the coming of Moshiach (Messiah) and the final redemption of the Jewish people is imminent!"

Thanks to an alert Donna Dana, I now have the source. It is http://www.yiddishkeit.org/Default_YK.asp?ItemCode=823

There are some other interesting quotes on that Web site, such as:

1. "Rabbi Lazer Brody writes: 'Yesterday, I met with Rabbi Shlomo Tzvi Alter - one of the Gerrer Rebbe's sons who, along with his brothers, heard the Rebbe say emphatically before Kiddush, 'Moshiach will come this year, or by the end of next year.'" (Probably referring to the Jewish calendar, where the Jewish year ends October 4, 2005 on the Gregorian calendar.)

Rabbi Shlomo Tzvi Alter is decribed as "one of the world's most prominent, respected, and influential rabbinical leaders....known as an individual of tremendous spiritual stature, who does much and says very little."

In full context, the witness's full statement read:

After news of the Melitzer Rebbe's comment last week (that this is the generation of Moshiach) spread like wildfire throughout Israel, I was approached by a leading Gerrer Chassid who told me that the Gerrer Rebbe made a similar statement at his home on Passover Seder Night, nine weeks ago. For the last five days, while checking the dependability of my source, I heard five different versions of what the Rebbe presumably said. Yesterday, I met with Rabbi Shlomo Tzvi Alter - one of the Gerrer Rebbe's sons who, along with his brothers, heard the Rebbe say emphatically before Kiddush, "Moshiach will come this year, or by the end of next year." After the Seder, the Rebbe concluded by saying in Yiddish, "We'll soon discover that the entire Golus was worth eating one little piece of meat (alluding to the korban Pesach, or Pascal lamb, which G-d willing we'll all be eating in the Holy Temple this coming Passover)," meaning that we have no idea of the value of Moshiach, the rebuilding of the Holy Temple, korbonos, and the spiritual treasures that are in store for us. When one of his sons asked him to elaborate, the Rebbe refused, saying, "Ich hob schoin gezugt tzu fil," or, "I've already said too much."

2. Another quote: "We know that Moshiach will arrive on a donkey..."

On a donkey? That's ironic. Surprise! Messiah has already arrived on a donkey on his first visit! How will He arrive on His return? "As the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be" (Matthew 24: 23-27, NKJV). "And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two" (Zechariah 14:4).

Jesus said, "Watch!"
