Ancient Signposts to 2004

I continue to be greatly intrigued by God's unusual revelation to Ezekiel in chapter 4 about the 430 years of punishment (which commentaries admit is a mystery), 70 of which occurred during the Babylonian captivity, leaving 360.  Then apply the "7 times more" of Leviticus 26 (or 7 X 360 = 2,520), which totals to 2,590 years.  According to Ezekiel 4, this is to be counted from the "siege" of Jerusalem.

Some scholars believe the "siege" was in 587 B.C., not 586.  So, 587 + 70 years = 517 BC, when the second temple was completed.  Then amazingly, count 2520 years from 517 BC and you arrive at AD 2004 .

Also, 2,590 converted to prophetic years = 2553 (rounded), and 587 + 2553 = AD 1967, the year the Jews recaptured Jerusalem!

I am told that this interpretation of Ezekiel 4 was reportedly put forth several decades ago by Arthur Bloomfield in his book, The End of the Days.   Bloomfield starts his count at 586 B.C. and calculates the end of the 2,590 years will be "about 2004."  Bloomfield also points out that "Before the Rapture, times are never set for the Church, but times are always set for Israel.  The Israelites have never been outside their land except a time has been set for their return."  A profound observation.

Many believe that 2520 years may be the time cut out for "the times of the Gentiles."  Using 2590 years from 587 BC, or 2520 years from 517 BC, both come out to AD 2004 .

The number 2520 is an important biblical number.  It is not only 7 X 360, the number of days in a prophetic year, but it is how long Nebachudnezzer was crazy, causing some to believe that this period of insanity represents the period of insanity of the Gentile age.

As mentioned, the second temple was completed in 517 BC, initiating a new era, and was destroyed in AD 70, now awaiting completion of God's new temple, which is His body, the church.  That new temple may be complete this year, maybe in days, or even hours.
