Now, are you ready?

I assume that you are now born again, you desire to be a servant of Jesus Christ, and you have sincerely confessed and turned from any known sin.   You want the power of the Holy Spirit.

You are a modern-day Holy Spirit explosion waiting to happen!

Now, "Let's roll," using the expression of the late hero, Todd Beamer, on the doomed airliner on September 11, 2001. As you may know, Todd was an outspoken and committed Christian.

Here is how:

1.      To ask anything from God with the certainty that He will give it and you will get it, you have to know His will on the subject.  We find His will in His Word, which reveals the mind of God.

2.      We know, "For no matter how many promises God has made, they are 'Yes' in Christ. And so through him the 'Amen' is spoken by us to the glory of God" (2 Corinthians 1:20).  We know His promises are all "yes," but we have to "amen," or agree with and affirm them, by faith.

3.      We know for certain that it is His will that you be filled with the Spirit, because He said it and, in fact, commanded it: "Be filled with the Spirit" (Ephesians 5:18).  God worded that as mandatory, not an option.

4.      Now this promise applies: "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.  And if we know that he hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of him" (1 John 5:14-15).  Note the word "confidence."  Strong’'s Enhanced Lexicon defines that as "free and fearless confidence, cheerful courage, boldness, assurance."  I love that: "fearless confidence"!

5.      Because we know that it is His will, we ask for it and, by faith, make a decision to receive it.  Jesus said, "Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (Mark 11:24).

According to Scripture, we know it is His will; therefore, we ask according to His will; therefore, we know that He hears us; therefore, we know that we have the answer now; therefore, we believe we have received it; therefore, we have it.  Right now.  Period.  Done.

Summary:

·        Know it is His will revealed in His own Word.

·        Ask according to His known will.

·        Know that He hears you according to His Word.

·        Know that you have the answer according to His Word.

Or, (1) ask, (2) believe, (3) receive.

That simple five-letter word I previously referred to as providing for us this power was  F-A-I-T-H.

This is the way God designed for us to receive all His promises.  It involves faith in His Word, and action based on that faith.

Salvation works the same way: We know it is His will; we ask in faith; we believe; we receive; and we never doubt.  That is God's way.
